the band Tillorson Creek

Tillorson Creek is comprised of six musician; Jenny, Gary, John, Tim, Amy and Ron referred to by the band and their fans as Uncle Ron (whether he likes the nickname or not). Gary, Ron, Tim, and John have been playing music together for about 10 years all together. Previous genre's covered by these four include blues, rock, funk, and occasionally a more progressive jazzy feel.

One day Gary and Tim set out to find a new path to follow. A more mellow, grown up approach to music, when they found Jenny Collins. Gary and Tim would show up at shows, gigs, and open mic performances as a team when they stumbled across Jenny hosting an open mic night. They were the first ones to perform for the night and they insisted Jenny perform with them. The rest is history. They soon contacted Uncle Ron and John and began writing songs that bring everyone back to the soulful roots of music. This was the beginning of tillorson Creek.

Tillorson Creek is quite an original name. It was derrived from the stream located behind Band member and bassist Gary Parker's home. The name of the stream is Tillotson Creek, and with an evolutionary conversation, some manipulation of the term, and a bit of creativity, the band came up with Tillorson Creek. This is a simplified pronunciation of the name. Essentially we are named after a Stream that does not exist.

Jenny Collins started singing when she was 15 and playing guitar at the age of 17 when her brother Leif James showed her three chords: Her first performing experience was an open-mic at Syracuses' Happy Endings. In the sumer of 2003, I came across an amazing soulful musician, Xavier Rudd. He’s a one man band. I truly felt the emotion behind his music. That’s my goal when it comes to playing.

Amy DeRosi adds an amazing soulful, harmony to the vocal section of this band. She has been singing for about as long as she can remember, and was singing seriously from the age of 14. She tends to avoid the spotlight, which makes doing back up vocals her dream spot, and singing with Tillorson Creek has given her a renewed passion and motivation for learning and making music. email Amy

John Roalef has been playing guitar since 16. Some of the artists that influenced him would include SRV, Alex Lifeson, and most recently Pat Metheny. John began with a harder edge to his playing that has evolved with his new ES-335 Gibson guitar to a more jazzy fusion style of playing. email John | John's myspace
Gary Parker has been playing bass guitar for about 17 years. "I started on guitar and couldn't keep up, so my buddies handed me a bass. I was outraged and decided that I was not going to play root notes for the rest of my life, so I buckled down and focused on some of the great players Like Jaco, Victor, Steve Baily, Billy Sheehan Flea, etc.." He feel that this combination of musicians clicks on everything they do together. It's quite inspiring and has given him a new found focus and drive that hopefully bring their music to the fore.

Tim Golden has been playing drums and percussion for about 25 years. His influences began with the hard rockers of the 70's and the 80's until he discovered virtuoso percussionists like Dave Weckyl and Steve Smith. These musicians have inspired him to strive higher and be a bit more technical. This indeed challanges Gary and I think he likes that. Tim ads a soulful, jazzy edge to the bands music, hence funking it up a bit.

Uncle Ron is a harp playing fool! He has a root interest in the blues and loves to funk it up as well. He can jam hard or play it nice and soulfull for you. He has recently picked up the Congas and rounds out the band quite nicely with some added percussion. He gives hi heart and sould to the band and is extremly reliable when it comes to giving the people what they want to hear.
